Branbants Afval Team (BAT)

This magnificent project, carried out by Kenter on behalf of the Brabants Afval Team (BAT, part of the Municipality of Tilburg), was opened on Friday, July 5, 2024. The Netherlands' largest charging plaza for electric waste collection vehicles exemplifies how municipalities are shaping the energy transition. It is the first charging plaza of this scale to be built by a municipality in the Netherlands. Under the Energy Ports Solar Carport model ICS450, there are 19 DC charging points. A battery stores this energy for later use, allowing vehicles to be charged during the night. While this charging plaza is primarily intended for BAT's garbage trucks, other local businesses can also make use of it. In the coming years, BAT will have 55 electric garbage trucks using this charging plaza, and further expansion is planned. This is how BAT and the Municipality of Tilburg are preparing for the zero-emission zone that will be implemented in phases starting January 2025.

This commercial project in Zwolle combines the need of charging needs of EV users working at offices and also create extra charging possibilities with renewable solar energy for local residents and visitors. The convenience of dry and shaded parking is well recognised.

PROJECT BAT
